Iconstorm analyses and reviews the brand “Frankfurt Book Fair”

Iconstorm, the Frankfurt agency for Markentechnik, gives advice to the Ausstellungs- und Messe-GmbH, organiser of the Frankfurt Book Fair, concerning the brand. The internet service www.buchmesse.de is to become more user- friendly. Iconstorm analyses und designs the website’s new structure.

The Ausstellungs- und Messe-GmbH – a subsidiary of the German Publishers & Booksellers Association Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels – has been organising the Frankfurt Book Fair since 1964. This event takes place in Frankfurt every year since 1949. The Frankfurt Book Fair is the biggest book and media fair in the world. In addition, the Ausstellungs- und Messe GmbH organises German collective stands at more than 25 international book fairs, thus presenting titles by the German publishing industry on the most important foreign markets.

With its extensive databases and catalogues, the Frankfurt Book Fair’s website is an important work tool, available to the related media industries 365 days a year. The goal is to make this service even more user-friendly. Iconstorm’s part is to give advice on the positioning of the Frankfurt Book Fair’s brand as well as developing a clear structure for the website, which has increased in volume considerably, to make it future-proof.

To learn more about the requirements, Iconstorm starts with a workshop that identifies the brand’s strengths and weaknesses. The next step is the positioning workshop together with the decision-makers of the Ausstellungs- und Messe GmbH. As result a distinctive positioning of the Frankfurt Book Fair was shaped.

After the first two workshops the output has to be be verified. To accomplish this, Iconstorm conducts an analysis by video monitoring based on interviews with experts. The group of experts consists of the website’s main target group: journalists and decision makers in publishing companies. The result of the survey is analysed and used besides the positioning as background for the subsequent structure workshop where both, the users’ needs as well as the brand “Frankfurt Book Fair”, are taken into account. As a result Iconstorm writes the catalogue of requirements for the restructuring of the website.
